Ecology centre hosts activities

WILDLIFE WEEK at the Lynn
Canyon Ecology Centre, March 17
to 2 35, is just in time for the school
spring break.

Wilderness Coalition: Joe Foy
from the Western Canada
Wilderness Committee will present
a slideshow and talk on what's be-
ing done to protect local wilderness
areas and how you can help.Free.
¢ Sunday, March 18 — Bones,
Bones: Val Schaefer from Douglas
College will give an informative
hands-on talk about bones and
their functions. Free .
@ Monday, March 19 — Owl
Rescue Association: Bev Day will
present a slideshow and talk on
caring for injured birds of prey.
Have a close-up look at a live barn
owl and red-tailed hawk. Free.
¢ Tuesday, March 20 — Story
Telling: Alison Haupt from North
Vancouver District Library will
present selected readings for
children with environmental and
natural history themes. Free ad-
mission.
* Wednesday, March 2t —
Wildlife Rescue Association: What
should you do with an injured
animal? Find out about this
organization that cares for injured
wildlife. Learn how you can help.
Free admission.
¢ Thursday, March 22 — Sea
Monsters of the B.C. Coast:
Monsters in our waters? Paul
LeBlond from UBC will present a
slideshow and talk on some of the
interesting creatures found along
the coast of B.C. Free admission.
¢ Friday, March 23 — Insects:
What is an entomologist? Rhonda
Johnston will answer this and
other insect questions. There will
be a good collection of creepy-
crawlers to look at. 50-cent admis-
sion.

Controversies: Why did the
dinosaurs disappear? Joan Sharp
from SFU will present a slideshow
