STAFF FROM the West Vancouver Parks and Recreation Commission took advantage of rush-hour traffic
at the Lions Gate Bridge recently to promote their summer programs. Registration is currently under way at

Pottery classes
offered in WV

POTTERY CLASSES are being
offered at Eagle Harbour Com-
munity Centre this summer.

Children ages six to 12 can visi?

and 25 from 9 to 10:30 a.m. to
participate in a pottery course.

Family Clay Time is a class for
grandparents,:.parents and other
grown-ups accompanied by
children. The program operates
Tuesdays, July 4, 11, 18 and 25
from 10:45 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.

offered Tuesday, July 11 from
6:36 to 9:30 p.m., Wednesday, Ju-
ly 26 from 9 a.m. to noon and

p.m., participants can use. the .

gas-fired raku kiln to try an age-
old Japanese pottery technique.

Also offered is a raku pottery
four-week mini-course where stu-
dents will receive guidance in mak-
ing hand-built and wheel-thrown
pots. Special lustrous metallic and
crackle glazes will be available.
Previous clay work experience
would be helpful but is not a
necessity. The course happens

Teach dog
obedience

AN EIGHT-week dog obedience
course is being offered ct Eagle
Harbour Community Centre.

The program will run Tuesdays,
July 4 to August 22, from 7 to 8:30
p.m. and will provide intensive in-
struction in dog obedience.

A mutually happy master-pet
relationship is the main goal.

instructor Zoe MacBean is the
owner/operator of the Van-
couver-based business Precision
Training, which specializes in in-
home behavior counselling for
dogs and “puppy kindergarten.”

-MacBean has been in the

business of dog training for four’

years, has trained dogs aged eight
weeks to 16 years, and firmly
believes that one can teach old
dogs new tricks. She also strongly
believes in non-coercive training
techniques.
