No fries, no — glory fer ferries Chris Sorensen, Ali Millerd, and Takeshi Guenstie BrrLontributing Writers WEST Vancouver and Bowen Island residents say, “there are too many things wrong with the fast ferries, so shut them down!” Residents say the fast ferries are making too many waves, endangering swimmers, and that boats are crashing up against the rocks. Others say the ferries make too much noise and the traffic is horrible getting into Horseshee Bay. Passengers say that the fer- ries are taking up too much fuel and they have to pay for it:” They're angry because fuel has gone up 3.1% in the last month. Others say that the seats are too crowded and there is not enough room to walk around. They also say that the cafeteria WOGH coodeccvevceceeoues STARK & 1 “DOMESTIC CONTRACTS” A book on marriage ard separation agreements FAMILY LAW MEDIATION 682-4999 #602-1166 Aldarni Si, Vancouver is bigger than the lower pas- senger deck. One woman says that her dogs suffer from the heat in the car deck. Truck drivers can’t go on the fast ferries because the weight of the trucks is too heavy for the fast ferries to go high speed. Some say that they have to wait four hours for a regular ferry to come in and take them over to the island. If the trucks can’t go on the Nanaimo route they will have to go all the way to Tsawwassen to get over to the island. Besides all that, the fast fer- ries don't have any french fries! To stop this problem we think that the engineers should fix the ferries or get rid of them. We think the main problem is that the ferries are very bad for the environment.
