Rajdeep Singh Khosa, 29, of Surrey, was charged under the

MaeMotor Vehicle Act with driving, without due care and attention

He was also charged with a West Vancouver bylaw infraction
f exceeding: a gross vehicle weight.

On Sept. 27, 1996, pedestrian Bjorn Bjornson, 58, was killed
on Marine Drive near the bottom of 22nd Street after being
struck by a dump truck that was allegedly overloaded and had
malfunctioning brak

The horrific crash injured another pedestrian and sent a sports
utility truck fying.

The West Vancouver Police department started its investiga
tion into the crash with the view to gathering evidence that
would possibly result in a charge of criminal negli
death. The charge falls under the Criminal Code and cari
maximum life sentence.
