Coyote attacks pet

ALTHOUGH inany North Shore pets
have died in the jaws of a coyote, Max
the cat is luckier,

He survived his coyote ordeal,

On May 28, Max's owner, Graham Miller, dis-
covered a coyote violently shaking Mav at the side
of the house,

Miller ran toward the coyote and the animal
dropped Mas, Miller then attempted to fifi the eat,

“Ei his panicked state he tried to attack me,”
said Miller, who lives neve Lonsdale and 24th in
North Vancouver,

“tt took about five minutes before | could pick
him up.”

Miller took Max, who was coated with coyote
saliva, inside, Miller and his wife Betty dried Max
and discovered four puncture marks in their cat's
shoulder and rump,

Retry wrapped Max in towels and held him until
the yer opened the nest morning,

The vet operated on Mas for more than an
hour, The cat needed 20 external stitches and
numerous internal ones, said Miller,

“When we brought Max home three days later
he was quite a sight —~ a plastic cone around [is

wounds and all thase stitches," said Miller,

A month later, the wounds are healing and
Max’s tur is growing back.
