Anyone who has tried to untangle a string of lights, or figure out which bulb in the Strand is burnt out, knows how much effort is involved in a Christmas lights display. This year North Shore resi- dents can light up their neigh- borhoods, while helping a needy family, and possibly win a prize, in the Light Up Our Streets contest. Entries received this week will be eligible for a $1,600 Woodward’s shopping spree and may be included on a map of Christmas displays that wil! be published in the Dec. 23 edition of the North Shore News. Gifts of hope are needed EACH YEAR volunteers with the Canadian Mental Health Association’s “Gift of Hope’’ campaign purchase, wrap, and distribute over 750 gifts at Christmas parties held in North Shore psychiatric wards and group boarding homes, and to many who live alone. - Personal relationships are difficult for these people, who are often overlooked by our society. A gift is a gesture of warmth and caring which helps banish the loneliness that is Dx On the North Shore heightened by Christmas.
