The writer of the letter ends it with a suggestion that Mrs. Ferries get together with Hayden Stewart to “determine why she has such a negative attitude”. Two questions: 1. Why. do people like Mrs. Ferries have such negative attitudes? and, 2. What do you think of the Sunshine. Girls? STEWART: Question one: I’ have no way of knowing if she has “ negative attitude”. She may feel quite positive. Perhaps. you signed one of the Peace C7 - Wednesday, July 7, 1982 - North Shore News Petitions. Did you feel: that was negative of you to protest something you think is harmful? I don’t know Mrs. Ferries, but my hat is off to her for taking action, about something that concerns her. I don’t need to agree with her that her particular protest is im- portant. Nor do I sense any need to resent her doing what she's doing. Question two: Some of the Sunshine Girls are inspiring; some are exciting: some are downright beautiful. I feel good that they grace our pages. Some are a bit plastic, overposed, un-natural, badly dressed. ['m not‘too thrilled about them. I. think the feature has great possibilities. Perhaps a change in title would give our excellent photographer, Ellsworth Dickson, some more leeway. In which case he could given us the .odd picture of someone, male or female. young or old, who has accomplished something, or is toying with a great idea or wants to encourage us to combine zucchini and peanut butter, or whatever. Sunshine Girl has got to be one of our most popular features, just as it is. With more scope I believe it would become increasingly attractive to more readers. So, what do I think of the Sunshine Girls? I like the feature and would like to see it become better still.
