Dundarave The West Vancouver Historical Society has finally cleared up the controversy surrounding the correct pro- Nunciation of the name “Dundarave.” According to the society’s | November newsletter, the neighbour- hood was named by UBC professor R.E. Macnaughten, who purchased and subdivid- ed land there, and named it after his family’s ancestral home — Dundarave Castle on Loch Fyne in Scodand. Properly pronounced, the last syllable of the name, it seems, should rhyme with “have.” The society currently has plans to research all West Vancouver place names and is looking for a small group of interested and inquiring minds to work on the project.
