For ning years now, the Harmony Arts Festival has featured art in all shapes and forms. From music and dance to gallery: shows, wearable art, creative interactive events, and even a skateboard ballet. There is teuly something tor evervone. The opening cer- emonies on Friday night were great and the weekend events included a craft market and live music shows. The festival, spon- sored in part by the West Vancouver Foundation, continues all this week and pext weekend. Catch some five music at fohn Lawson park nightly, visit the galleries and take in some tun. Doug Hodges. was quick to give full credit to wife Trudi for her talented stone garden decorations. Trudi was ill and had to miss out on the fun. Ferry Building Gallery ci co-ordinator Ruth Payne chose a very special piece to show. The Silk Purse was bustling with visitors, but Ruth Lewis was ready for them all and she greeted everyone at the door. Never pass up a chance to see Xwa-lack-tun’s (a.k.a. Rick Harry) work. His native artistry is legendary in these parts and will be on display again this week at the Ferry Building. Lions Bay glass blower Lawrence Ruskin uses a very difficult technique to create some wonderful effects. His glass flowers were especially beautiful. Artist Wendy Murphy uses papier mache to create won- dertul three-dimensiona! effects on her art work. Joye and Brad MacPherson, seen here with son Shayden and daughter Alaysia, have made their stone art jewelry into a fabulous family business. Masnid Soltani, a festival yuiunteer, was cniy too happy to help out in the office. This i is the group that put it ali together.
