Fiowering inferno

INVESTIGATORS WERE on the scene Thursday after
an carly morning fire damaged a flower store on Lonsdale
Avenue.

North Vancouver City chief fire prevention officer Dave
Burgess said firemen gained control of the fire quickly, but
significant damage resulted to store stocks and the east
end of the building at 1804 Lonsdale.

Burgess said investigators are trying to determine the
cause and origin of the fire. Arson has not been ruled out.

Woman rescued
A 28-YEAR-OLD Japanese woman was pulled from the
ocean and rescued at Dundarave Tuesday after she walked
into the water fully clothed.

Two joggers, who saw the woman, found a canoe near
the scene at the foot of 25th Street and paddled out to help
her. West Vancouver Police and a coast guard vessel also
assisted. The woman suffered hypothermia and was sent to
Lions Gate Hospital.

Assault charge
A 27-YEAR-OLD North Vancouver man is charged with
sex assault, sex assault while threatening to use a weapon,
and unlawful confinement.

According to a North Vancouver RCMP spokesman,
the charges stem from the sexual assault of a 26-year-old
woman that allegedly occurred in December at an apart-
ment in the 200-block St. Andrews Avenue.

Hossein Kouhi was released on a $10,000 cash bail.
