TRIATHLETE ALEX Whitehouse of Duncan makes the transition from swimming to
biking at the North Shore Spring Triathlon. Several nationally ranked triathletes
took part in the event, which inciuded a swim in Ron Andrews recreation centre,
an 18-kilometre (11-mile) bike race and a five-kilometre (three-mile) road and trail

part of $30m deal

up North Shore Studios and its
joint-venture parent.

Cannell Entertainment of Les Angeles
is about to be taken over by New York-
based New World Entertainment, accord-
ing to sources close to the deal.

Cannell jointly owns Norih: Shore
Studios with Comweb Corp. of Toronto.
The proposed buyout would include the
purchase of the six-stage North Shore
Studios,

The takeover is valued at Us$30 mil-
tion. ina swap of New World bonds which
ean be traded for its stock: The deal is
expected to close in the middle of June,
according to a source familiar with the
negotiations.

New World confirmed an agreement in

“They are well into the due ‘diligence
phase now,” a Cannell official toid the
News.

New World lawyers and accountyats
have. been. reviewing Cannell’s various
units, including the North Vancouver

operation, for over two months.

But New . World officials refused to
comment on the issue. “We are a public
corporation, and J cannot comment on
anything in negotiations,” said Fred
“Weissman, New World’s media director.
