BEFORE YOU start cheer-
ing the alleged changes in

our crazy immigration sys-
tem, count to 10.

We've seen most of thiz before.
I have been writing on the subject
for over 20 years and Ottawa's
road is littered with the debris of
deception.

There are a few positive aspecis
to the moves announced by Sergio
Marchi, but trust him not.

He’s the worst immigration
minister in a bad bunch going back
to 1968, when Jean Marchand and
Trudeau began converting this
country into a Tower of Babel.

The issue has now exploded and
Canadians’ rage has forced Marchi
to take one small step back.

He claims the intake is to be
reduced from more than 250,000 a
year — a mad figure anyway ~~ to
190,000 or 215,000.

He's not sure which one will
apply. Of course not.

“” Meanwhile, the refugee racket
will grow bigger, even though
everyone and his dog now knows
that the vast majority of “refugees”
are bogus and that we are dolts to
take them in.

Even if they were all genuine
there would still be no good reason
to take more, proportionately, than
any other country.

In 1995 we'll be giving the glad
hand to up to 32,000, all of whom
will get the usual welfare and tax-
supported baggage.

Then there’s the “family reuni-
fication” scandal.

of the grand total, if you'll excuse
the misuse of the word “grand.”

Marchi's “cuts” in that will not
make much difference, even
though the howls from the minori-
ties sound as if they're all having
their cyes gouged out.

We are told that family class
numbers will yo down to 44% over
the next five years.

Big deal!

And there we see another ever-
cise in deception.

Parents and grandparents won't
be called “faraily class.” They It
form a special group.

Maybe it will be called the Halt,
Lame, Blind and Decayed Class of
Ancients.

In any event, they IE stil be
hustling in end taking huge bites
out of the medicare and welfare
budgets.

We hear, of course, that spon-
sors may have to put up bonds so
that relatives will net be a public
charge.

Believe it when you see it.

In the past. some of our duft
churches have put up “guarantees”
that refugees wouldn't be a charge.
But when the clergy didn't have
the money to honor their promise
Ottawa simply told them to forget
it.

The big “news” is that there are
going to be more independent class
immigrants: people who have
skills and education, in other
words.

Believe that when you see it,
too. It was the Liberals who
reduced the independents to a frac-
tion of the whole in the first place.

When universal immigration
replaced the selective sort the cry
was that only people with skills
would be admitted. That's how we
got the points system.

It was code for: “Don’t worry.
We wen't be letting in the masses
from india, China, and the
Caribbean.”

But in no time at all the illiter-
ate and unskilled were pouring in.
Plus criminals.

Police chiefs across the country
complained but the politicians
developed tin ears.

In 1978 the Liberals struck
another blow against Canada.

That was when they practically
stopped immigration from Europe
and replaced it with “family reuni-

fication.”
Worlders.

Fact: in addition to being dumb,
the Liberals are cuned into the
multicult vote (as were the Tories
and NDP).

That's why. in Opposition,
Marchi wanted $00,000 immi-
grants a year, nor 250,000, And
why he still says the aim is
290,060.

The Liberals are nvasters at fak-
ery and illusions,

Only a couple of weeks ago it
was claimed that “independents”
make up 43% of total immigration.

But the rules say that indepen-
dents have to have jobs laid on in
advance.

And the jobs don"t exist.

[checked with West Van's
Charles Campbell, the former
Appeal Board man who knows
more about these things than most
cabinet ministers.

He laughed and said that only
17.500 came in last year as true
independents.

The others bought their way in.
or were nannies or retirees,

Is there anything to be said for
what Marchi is doing’? Yes. Art
Hanger and the Reform Party have
pushed the Liberals to the wall and
prevented them from sicking even
bigger disasters on us.

The bottom fine on all this, of
course, is the truth that dare not
speak its name: race and culture.
