retailer Mr. Big and Tall, which has
six stores in B.C., was recently
acquired by an American company,
Edison Brothers, that operates
2,800 stores across the U.S. with
annual sales of $1.6 billion.

Edison Brothers, which sells
men’s and ladieswear, is based in
St. Louis, Missouri. This is the first
company the U.S. retailer has pur-
chased in Canada.

Big and Tall owner Roy Rauser
said that he will be leaving the
business. The 15 stores, including
those shops which have licensed
the name from Rauser in Eastern
Canada, will continue under the
Mr. Big and Tall banner.

Rauser says his reasons for sell-
ing the company are not because it
has not been successful, he simply
wants a career change. He said the
acquisition will allow the company
to have much greater buying and
marketing power. He added that the
Edison Brothers will be expanding
in Eastern Canada.

BIG BROTHERS of Greater
Vancouver will co-host a
fundraising shopping party at
Points West Fashion Outlet
on Wednesday, Nov. 9 from 5
p.m. until 9 p.m.

Throughout the evening, guests
will be treated to door prizes,
complimentary coffee and dessert,
and some of the best prices in
town on brand-name and designer
fashions, accessories, and
footwear for the whole family.

Points West Fashion Outlet is
located at 3695 Grandview Hwy.

Ten per cent of the evening's
total sales will be donated to Big
Brothers of Greater Vancouver.

Funds raised through this shop-
ping party will be used to heip
fund the organization's ongoing
commitment to recruit, screen,
and match potential Big Brothers
with boys from male-absent
homes.
