Brief history of famous company

The Chevrolet Motor
Company was formed in
1912 by the Chevrolet
brothers, Louis and Gaston,
who developed the first
model. William C. Durant
was the guiding light of the
firm at the time, although he
did not yet control General
Motors.

The company made its
first impact on the market
with the introduction of the
Baby Grand Touring Car,
selling at $875. and its
companion roadster model,
the Royal Mail. The “490”
(named for its selling price in
dollars) came to the fore in

1916, and eventually became
Chevrolet's top production
car, and a sales leader in the
field.

Chevrolet was acquired by
General Motors in 1917,
shortly after Charles W.
Nash left to found his own
company,.and Henry Ford
began construction of his
huge River Rouge Plant.

By 1920 Chevrolet was the
third largest selling car in the
United States, bettered only
by Ford and Dodge. They
pursued a_ single model
policy in 1923 and, in 1925
featured the Supenor coach
with disc wheels and Duco
