Olidsmobile’s high value family coupe and
sedan, the Eishty-Eight Royale, features a
number of significant improvements designed to
make this affordable car more attractive to
buyers.

Under the skin, the body structure has been
improved by stiffening key joints and engine
compartment rail sections. This enhances ride
quality and reduces interior noise over irregular
road surfaces,

The 3.8 litre V-6 engine, thoroughly = re-
engineered for the 1988 mode! year, now features
modular iron main bearing caps to improve
reliability.

Chassis alterations include revised froni brake
linings to reduce noise, 2 larger-volumie brake
booster and slight changes to the front brake cal-
ipers to improve pedal feel. A power stecring gear
valve has been reprofiled for better on-centre
steering feel.

On the outside, grilles, headlamp bezels, tail
lamps, and front and rear fascias have been
restyled for a cleaner appearance on both the
Eighty-Eight Royale and Royale Brougham. Op-
tional is a 15-inch cast aluminum wheel, as well as
anti-lock brakes and a driver’s side inflatable
restraint (air bag).

An “express-down'’ feature for the driver's
window is part of the power-window pachaze.
