Last Saturday was cold but, dewn at our condo, it was bright and sunny. Oldest daughter and Brian were outside washing their cars. Most cats will knead their front paws when they are happy (or hungry). ‘‘Kelly’? — the nickname we tagged him with —- remember Gene? — got all four feet into the act. Every four or five bars, he paused and held up his left front paw. Was it ‘‘No applause, please’ or his version of Shuffle Off to Buffalo.? . Kelly’s paws are curiously form- ed — or is it the result of 15 years of dancing for his dinner? Instead of compact, furry white toes, his are splayed-out and long. They re- ally tap out a beat. But probably the oddest thing about Kelly’s dancing: he changes his pace in tune with the radio!
