Crown Counsel Robert Anderson told North Vancouver Provincial Court that Turnell’s licence had been suspended indefinitely for non-payment of fines. Turneli told the court that the only reason for driving was that his mother had fallen down the stairs and couldn’t get up and he was on the way to take her to hospital. “Because of this con- viction it’s (the licence) is really going to be under suspension,” Judge J.K. Shaw told Turnell. “You sound youre the sort of person who shouldn't be driving anyway,” Shaw added. He fined Turnell $250 and said his licence would be suspended for a further six months to a year. Shaw said he guaranteed Turneli would get a jail term if he drove again while under suspension.
