mini-cruise from Tsawwassen
or Nanaimo through Active
Pass and the Gulf Sfslands

T took the Queen of
Nanaimo on its regular run
to Saltspring Island, with calls
at Galiano, Mayne and
Pender islands. Some trips are
non-stop, but I was in no
hurry and enjoyed the
scenery and close looks at
these islands.

Staff, at the ticket booths
and on board, was terrific,
just as pcople-friendly, if nor
more $0, as the crews on the
big cruise ships. The captain
even gave advance warning
before he blew the ship’s
whistle, which can be heard
in Toronto.

By the way, an alternative
is to get a through-fare and
travel Tsawwassen-Swartz
Bay, then to Fulford harbor
on ’Saltspring.
