Programmers Convention on Friday, April

18, 1997 in Richmond.

The 1996 Elite Canada Gymnastics Competition won
the Galaxi Award for Excellence in Programming, Sports
Category.

North Vancouver’s Capilano College hosted this pres-
tigious event, where competitors vied for positions on
Canada’s National Team. Rogers’ coverage captured these
athletes in competition and featured short profiles on sev-
eral of the junior gymnasts.

nage in parks throughout the
municipality. .

Canyon Park.

It’s a large, natural wood sign, hand-
crafted in the west coast tradition by parks
sign carver, Peter Hickey.

Hickey sandblasts red cedar to produce
raised lettering, resulting in a sophisticat-
ed, yet rustic, look. .

Another example of Hickey’s work_ is
on display at Draycott Park. .

The district’s chief naturalist E-evin Bell
says all signs for the district’s many parks
will eventually be crafted in the same style.

Hickey is currently hard at work on
signs for Parkgate and Mosquito Creek
Park.

Pictures will be judged on originality and color. Pictures must
be dropped off at any participating Littie Caesars. Prizes
must be accepted as awarded. Prizes are not transferable.
No cash value to the prizes. Three coloring contest winners
will be selected from each of the Little Caesars locations
(specifically, one contest winner in each age category per
store) and each winner will receive a Little Caesars Pizza
Panty. The Party consists of 4 medium 2 topping Pizzas and
two orders of Crazy Bread. Contest closes May 31, 1997.
