combination for Jonas

~ Kvarnstrém.

The. former West Vancouver man
now lives in Munich where he and

musical partner Stefan Schramm are

quietly becoming top sellers in the
burgeoning field of natural sound-
scape music.

Kvarnstrém says its not New Age
-—~ to him the genre conjures Kitaro
or synthesizer-laden aural wallpaper.
It's also not Muzak. The music
demands and rewards the listener
with more than a narcotic prop-up.

Kvarnstrém met Schramm while
both were studying at the University
of Victoria in 1989.

They work from individual
Macintosh ‘computer-operated  stu-
dios in Munich.

Kvarnstr6m was in North
Vancouver carlier this week and
here's some of what he had to say:
How did you get into sound-
scapes?

Kvarnstrém: “The company,
Holbome Distributing, are really big
on natural sound. We're basically
keeping to the North American set of
animals.”
