hazard a guess that word associa-
tions coupled with mask often in-
clude: Greek, highbrow, static,
boring.

Which is too bad.

Masks may indeed have been
used as recognition and amplifica-
tion devices on the Greek stage,
but a mask on the head of an actor
who has found the release and
energy it can provide creates
magic and mystery that is almost a
religious experience.
