LOCALS WIN

THE INSTITUTE of Chartered
Accountants of British Columbia
has awarded fellowships for 1991
to four West Vancouver residents
and three North Vancouver resi-
dents.

Two of the West Vancouver
recipients are Galt Arthur, an
audit partner with the Vancouver
firm Deloitte and Toucke, and |
Frank Griffiths, who has served
on the institute’s taxation commit-
tee. He became a chartered ac-
countant in 1939 and in 1955 ac-
quired radio station CKNW. ,

In. 1965 Griffiths formed
Western Broadcasting Ltd.,. which
owns television station BCTV.
Griffiths also owns the Vancouver
Canucks of the National Hockey
League.

partner with Doane Raymond
Pannell, a former director of the
North Shore Neighborhood House
and Don Young, immediate past
president of the institute . and
assistant Auditor General of
Canada.

The North Vancouver recipients
are Donald Carter, principal of
the School ef Chartered Accoun-
tancy; Roger Davis, director of
the undergraduate program and
senior instructor for the faculty of.
commerce at the University of
B.C. and Fred Wright, a principal
of Capital West Partners.

NV MAN GETS DEGREE

LENNART ERIC Henriksson of
North Vancouver has received a
Ph.D degree in business from the
Indiana University’ School of
Business. He is now undertaking
post-doctoral work at the Univer-
sity of B.C. .

AWARD WINNERS

A GROUP of five B.C. con-
sulting firms has been presented
with an award of merit by the
Association of Consulting
Engineers of Canada for their

work on a design study of the

conventional facilities for the
proposed TRIUMF KAON factory
at the University of B.C.

The five consulting firms are:
D.W. Thompson Consultants
Ltd., Hipp Engineering Ltd., PBK
Engineering Litd., Stewart-EBA
Consulting Ltd., and UMA
Spantec Ltd.

The team developed preliminary
design, scheduling and cost
estimation of the $200 million
conventional facilities.
