Family Expenditure Survey
and the Family. Food Ex-
penditure Survey. The
former provides a
breakdown, item by item, of
how. many. consumer goods
are purchased by the average
Vancouver ‘family in one
year. The latter provides the

Canadian average per capita
consumption of each type of
food product in one year.

A major Family Expen-
diture Survey is done every
four years, and a minor
survey is done every two
years. The most recent fig-
ures are from 1982. The
most recent Family Food
Expenditure Survey dates
from 1983.

Either of these surveys,
combined with the census
information, can give you a
rough idea of how much in-
come hour particular pro-

duct wiil generate each year. °

Statistics Canada also has
Taxation Statistics for the
1982 tax year, and retail
trade magazines that. can
give'an idea of the yearly
volume of sales of particular
