Regardless of the fact that .
Vancouver has ‘been.in the’
forefront of soccer for a
number of decades, it is a
fact that. what has been
happening around here the
last few: weeks.has been the
creation of-a new approach
sto the game. —

' ‘It’s. almost as though the
general: population has
finally caught on to the sport
which is the universal game
throughout the world, in-
cluding all the enthusiasm
and support the game holds
in these other centres.

‘Everyone involved in
‘these past few weeks, either
as a spectator or player has
been aware of this new
awareness. A new dimen-
sion, out here anyway, has

; “been added to this old sport.

And yet things are con-
stantly changing. The team
that captured the hearts of
B.C. will not be the same as
the group we see next year.

Of course there will be
some familiar faces but as

. coach Tony Waiters put it on

the weekend, they just can’t
afford to stand still while the
rest of the league improves.

Besides, from this point on
all teams will be taking dead
aim at the Caps. When you

be totally recaptured.

at heart for whom ‘all the
field’s a stage’ and Alan Ball
with the supremely con-
fident ego, moving and
manipulating players like a
never tiring dynamo.

Of Carl Valentine who
shows the moves and desire
of one who could become
one of the greats as the years
progress.

And then there’s Craven
and Kenyon and Damels and
the Canadians: Buzz Par-
sons, Bob Lenarduzzi and
Bob Bolitho; all vital links’ in
a championship team along
