Vancouver’s municipal bud-
get for 1976 has been

Municipal manger Terry
Lester, in a provisional
budget presented at Mon-
day’s inaugural. council
meeting for 1976, outlined
expenditure increases of
approximately 20 per cent
from $15,000,000 <to $18,-
000, 000 over last year.

Extensive sewer and
waterworks programs and a
proposed new public works
yard were cited by. Lester as
main causes for the jump.

The budget will now be.
subject to councii’s scrutiny,
whereupon ‘aldermen may
trim the $3,000,000 increase
before a final budget is
adopted in late April or May.

some nasty phenomenon —
perhaps a strange chemical
planted in the chairs — that

turns these well-meaning | |

people into a fractious,
unruly mob.
