Armstrong in 1976, brother Barry joined him shortly
thereafter in 1978. Ken's sons, Jason & Brandon and
brother-in-law John Mitchell are also involved in the
family business. The company’s mission statement is to
become the largest insurance agency network in Canada
with offices in every province. They are well on their way
with 30 Sussex Insurance offices in operation today.
Their locations include British Columbta, Alberta and
Manitoba. Their 22 offices in British Columbia make
them the largest privately owned 1.C.B.C. Autoplan
agency network in BC

Canadian Superstore five years ago facilitated the rapid
growth of the family business. With regards to this
arrangement, Ken remarked, “Ie was a perfect fit, a won-
derful convenience for our customers. Were open 7 days
a week, 9 am to 9 pm, all of our locations have plentiful

he Armstrong family is very proud of Sussex Insurance
and all of their highly trained staff. They are instrumen-
ral in providing on-going training and promotion with-
in their company. Ken was quick to mention that all staff
receive their birthday off with pay and $100 for a special
night out. One look at their ‘uniquely’ decorated Sussex
Insurance VW beetle will tell you that this is a very spe-
cial company indeed!
