We are bombarded daily with violence,
through the TV shows we watch, the
newspapers we read and the radio we listen
to. All report an increasing number of
violent crimes. With this in mind today’s
question is:

“Do you think self defence
should be taught in school?”

Ree to defend
Capilano riding

MLA for North Vancouver
Capilano Angus Ree will ran
again as the Social Credit
candidate for the con-
stituency in any upcoming
provincial election.

Ree, who has held the seat
since the last election, was
uncontested at a nomination
meeting held Friday.

He was enthusiastically
endorsed by more than 100
constituency members at the

meeting.
Guest speaker was
Tourism Minister Claude

Richmond, who justified the
introduction of the Warren
Report which recommends
the creation of seven new
ridings in Socred strongholds
in Vancouver.

He said that in Victoria
constituency which has a
population of 79,000 and an
area of 11 square miles there
are two MLAs, while in his
constituency
Kamloops the population is
77,000 with an area of 8,244

square miles but has just one
MLA. He _ gave other
examples and said surely the

year.

Richmond emphasized
that further money ts just not
there and it is up to the
school districts to operate
more efficiently.

During his address he
touched on Northeast coal
which will provide thousands
of jobs in the province. The
coal reserves are adequate to
supply the whole world's
needs for over 300 years, he
said.

As minister of Tourism.
Richmond said that Expo 86
is expected to draw from 13
to 15 million visitors to the
province in five months.
