EMPATHETIC patient people to share an hour’s conversation with Chinese or Japanese students who are wanting to learn more about Canadian culture and im- prove their English skills. This is an excellent opportunity to explore the Chinese or Japanese culture. Hours are flexible one hour per week 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. OUTGOING visitors are wanted to join in the fun of playing bingo, chatting and drinking tea with senior citizens every Tuesday from 1:30 to 3 p.m. Orientation proavid- ed. ENTHUSIASTIC team captains are wante. to coordinate activities of four other volunteers who manage entertainment and recre- ation activities for senior groups. This is an ideal situation for two friends to share. Hours are Mon- day/Tuesday from 7 to 8 p.m. Orientation provided. FACILITATE a workshcp. If you have skill or talent in cooking, crafts or any other area here is an opportunity to hold a workshop and teach others. Come and share your hobbies with this group of active seniors for two hours preferably on Fridays, a.m. or p.m. Orientation provided. GOOD organizer? An art thera- py office needs help with phones, files, errands, banking and other general office duties. Typing is not Necessary to fill this position but volunteer should have some knowledge of office routines. This is an excellent opportunity to gain experience in the secretarial field. Hours are flexible two hours twice a week. KEEP fit. The innovative Keep Well program wants a person to lead a group of active seniors on various walks around the North Shore. If you enjoy seniors and walking this position will be perfect for you. Hours are three Mondays per month from 9 to 11 a.m. A PHOTOGRAPHER is also wanted to take pictures of seniors for promotional material, i.e. mall displays, special events. Orienta- tion provided. Volunteer must have own camera. Flexible hours. Friday social offered PEOPLE OF all ages are invited to “mix and have fun’* at St. John’s Anglican Church’s new Friday night drop-in program. Program coordinator Cathy Jeanes says the drop-in is an en- joyable way to spend the evening for families, children, couples and singles alike. Cards, board games, children’s videos, crafts and free babysitting are all available, as well as complimentary tea, coffee, juice and muffins, The free drop-in runs from 8 to 10 p.m., and the church is located at the corner of 8th and Chester- field. Seniors given tax advice TAX TIPS for seniors will be given at a series of free afternoon lectures on the North Shore. Among the topics covered at The Income Tax Puzzle lectures will be tax credits, installment payments and transfers from spouse. The lecturer will go through the form step-by-step to help seniors complete their own income tax return.
