MAILBox Scouting popularity increases Dear Editor: We wish to thank the editorial staff of the North Shore News for their excellent article Scouting Of- fers Youths Plenty that appeared on page !0 of the Sunday, Sept. 4 edition. A special thanks, too, to Ron Hopkins, cooperative advertising manager, for coordinating the Scout registration information that appeared on page 12 of the same issue. Adult training will commence 6:30 p.m, on Wednesday, Oct. 12, at St. Catherine's Anglican Church, 1058 Ridgewood Dr., North Vancouver, with an In- locally troduction to Scouting course. This is a pre-requisite for all fur- ther adult training courses. For further information call Katherine Trueman 988-6744 or Jim Brick 988-8381. Persons wishing to join Scouting or who would like further infor- mation on Scouting groups in their area should contact one of the fol- lowing people. Alan Manns - President Boy Scouts, Seymour District Comment was retracted Deas Editor: Concerning your article on Aug. 19 in which you quoted me as call- ing International Lands ‘‘one of the villains out there’’ for excessive blasting in the Caulfeild Plateau, I wish to point out that I shortly thereafter retracted the word “villain” in the West Vancouver Council meeting. The devastation that is occurring there has been principally the work of another company. The West Vancouver Council is in the process of tightening its con- trols over hillside development, blasting and oversized housing. Such controls are necessary if the municipality is to retain its beauty. iNCREBE PRE-SEASON Sat BASE GRIND, ED USED SKIS & BOOTS AT PRECES from °45 and up Ki TUNE-UP 65 GE SHARPEN, HOT WAX.
