(Terry Peters photo) Elaine Prescott, with an impressive 6th place all around, led the North Shore to a 3rd place victory in the largest ever North Shore Invitational Gym Meet held at B.C.I.T. on Saturday. The major competition came from seven U.S. teams and from Alberta. Manitoba, Quebec and Farnsborough, England. A total of 77 of the top gymnasts of the future competed in the vault, beam, bars and _ floor exercises during the 15-hour- long meet. The young team from National Academy of Ar- tistic gymnastics in Eugene, Oregon won the overall team championship, the only club who have won twice in the ts place third in meet seven years of the in- Vitational. With a total of 177.05, they were followed by the Mid American Twisters with 174.00. The North Shore Region team were right up there with the top, as they finished in third place at 172.45. This year saw travellers from afar as the Fox Gym Club from England competed and finished 7th as a team with 165.35. Top performer of the days competition was 13 year old Yumi Mordre of National Acadamy who won the all- around title with a total of 37.25. She also took three out of the four individual events. Second place all-around was Sandy Sobotka of Mid West American Twisters from [inois, and in 3rd overall place Tiffany Quincy from National Academy.
