According to the North Vancouver RCMP, the man stole a black 1991 Dodge Shadow parked in the 900-block of Drayton Street. Police say the man used a screwdriver to start the ear at 3:30 am. A Mountic saw the man in the car travelling down Brooksbank Avenue. . Police say the man subsequently rammed the car into a retaining wail in the 1000-block of Adderley Street. He was apprehended immediately. When asked why he was in the car, police say the man replied, “ I stole it to drive around and break into cars so I could get money to feed my cat.” The man later repeated that he broke iato cars to get money If and his cat. Kurtis Wilfred Cardinal, 21, of Vancouver, was charged with theft and possessing stolen property. He is in custody pending a psyshiatric report. The polices believe the man is connected to an armed rob- bery in Vancouver. On Sept. 14, a Burnaby resident was approached by the man near 16th Street and Lonsdale Avenue. The man offered to sell gold jewelry and watches. The Burnaby resident was suspicious and asked a nearby shopkeeper to call the police. The man quickly left in a 1980 white four-door Cadillac. He was described as being Caucasian, well-dressed, 50 vears old and 1.83 m (6°). Anyone who has been contacted by this would-be jewelry seller is asked to call North Vancouver RCMP Const.
