Pool fire THE FIRE at the Alberta Wheat Pool terminal Wednesday night caused a minor delay in the trans- portation of grain. The fire started on a little-used berth. It took 100 tire- fighters and five firzboats to contain the blaze, which forced Vancouver Police to evacuate the PNE and close the Second Narrows Bridge. Thursday was given over to clean-up. The first load- ing of grain began Friday. The value of the damage is currently under investiga- tion, but it was expected that a few tonnes of grain in the gallery and conveyor belt would be lost to smoke dam- age.
