INQUIRING REPORTER THIS WEEK, April {7 to 23, is National Volunteer Week atime to recognize and honor individuals who hetp their fellow citizens. Whether they are involved in fundraising, organizing special events, providing informa- tion, visiting the sick and elderly, helping with childcare or serving as a member of a board or committee, people have various reasons for donating their time. Sosne of the bene- fits include gaining work experience, brushing up on skills, exploring future career directions, getting involved in the conmmunity, supporting social causes, meeting people, and - making social contacts. With government funds rapidly depleting, many community organizations are ever more dependent on their staff of volunteers, This week we pay tribute to all those who give selflessly of themselves.
