Dirty water LAST WEEK'S heavy rainfall has raised turbidity levels in area drinking water, particularly water from the North Shore's Capilano and Seymout reservoirs. Between Tuesday and Friday last week, 15 inches of rain fell in the watersheds, according to Greater Van- couver Regional District spokesman Bud Elsie. The tur- bidity, or cloudy water, comes from extremely heavy runoff in watershed streams. But Elsie said the water shuutd be clear by the end of the week. “Barring 3 torrential rainfall, we should be OK in a couple of days,’’ said Elsie. Although the water may contain some silt, Elsie said it is safe to drink. Because of the record rainfall this summer, the North Shore thus far has not experienced any water shortages.
