Wind storm knocks out power A WIND storm Sunday knocked out power to about 4,000 homes in North and West Vancouver. B.C. Hydro senior communciations coordinator Verne Pricr said 2,200 people along the eastern edge of West Vancouver — near the areas of Taylor Way, Keith Road and Third Street — lost power at about 1:15 p.m. The power outage lasted for approximately two hours and 15 minutes. At roughly the same time in North Vancouver 1,800 Hydro cus- tomers lost their power in the areas of Capilano Road, Norgate Park and Pemberton Heights for about two hours and 40 minutes. Both outages were caused by falling tree branches hitting power RCMP seek beer store robber NORTH VANCOUVER RCMP are searching for a man who ap- parently robbed 2 North Vancouver beer and wine store of an un- disclosed amount of cash over the weekend. According to a police report, a lone maie entered the Avalon hotel beer and wine store, located a¢ 1025 Marine, at 7:55 p.m., Feb. 16, and demanded money. The male, according to police, took the cash and was last seen leaving east through the hotel parking lo¢. The suspect is described as being 6’1’’, of medium build. He was last seen wearing blue jeans, a jean jacket with a corduroy collar and & red masked toque. Information about the incident may be relayed to North Van- couver RCMP at 985-1311.
