2 - Wednesday, May 4, i } un At 1988 - North Shore News Upper Levels developers want change of plans ANCORE INTERNATIONAL, the company that got permission last year to build three six-storey apartment buildings between Cypress Row! Road and the Upper Levels Highway, wants to change the development to include four apartment buildings and 16 duplex townhouses ov the site. Density and site coverage would not change, planning director Steve Nicholls explained to West Vancouver, District Council last week. But the six-storey apartment buildings would be reduced in bulk, with 33 of the project's 77 units being spread among. the duplexes. The development would thus fit. more closely into the stcep topog- raphy, project architect Larry Laidlaw told the News. Difficulties in accessing the site also helped determine the changes in design. “This doesn’t seem consistent with their original - objectives,"’ commented West Vancouver resi- dent Roy Bartholemew, who spoke _ at the three public: hearings held last year for the original proposal. “They're flying in the face of their own proposal.
