CAPILANO COLLEGE students, staff and faculty will get a little learning with their lunch on Feb. 2, when the college presents an ‘open Forum on AIDS — Awareness and Prevention. The public is invited ‘to attend the forum, which runs from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m., and will have a chance to ask questions of people who are on the front lines of the fight against the disease. Speakers include Kevin Brown, a founding member of the Persons with AIDS (PWA) coalition, a support group for AIDS sufferers. The coalition attempts to prolong the lives of PWAs through alter- native forms of therapy like stress reduction, positive thinking and anti-viral drugs. The group’s aim is to give PWAs hope, and increase their life expectancies by increasing their will to live. Lezlie Wagman coordinates in- formation services for AIDS Van- couver,.a non-profit organization that opened its doors in February 1983, The group provides informa- tion, support and counselling to AIDS sufferers, and their fricnds and family. ‘Approximately 250 volunteers answer inquiries over the phone, help educate the public, and run support groups.
