years of being the only game of its
kind in town, Dominion Directory
Co. Ltd., the company responsible
for producing the Yellow Pages
directory, is not taking the com-
petitive assault lying down.

Dominion, a company controll-
ed by U.S.-based GTE Corp.,
which also has a major chunk of
B.C. Tel, fired a broadside at the
new pink kid on the block with a
B.C. Supreme Court lawsuit filed
in June.

The suit alleges infringement of
copxright, inducing breach of con-
traci and unjust enrichment.

Tne Pink Pages statement of
defence alleges that Dominion is in
breach of the federal Competition
Act.

The civil case continues.

everywhere else in the world,’ said
26-year-old Michael Blomfield,
Pink Pages executive vice-presi-
dent.

Incorporated Feb. 1986, the
local pink directory is the first of
its kind in North America.

The seed for the idea was
planted after Blomfield's friend of
15 years, 27-year-old Simon Lear-
mouth, vice-president of produc-
tion, returned from Australia sev-
eral years ago.

While living in Sydney, Lear-
mouth took note of a publication
called the Sydney Pink Pages
which was giving competition to
the Sydney Yellow Pages.

Said Blomfield: ‘‘The idea isn't
new to the directory business. The
idea for pink pages came from
