12 - Friday, November 6, 1987 - North Shore News From page 10 “They've lost their character because we haven't identified them.” Heritage buildings best known to West Vancouver residents in- clude Klee Wyck and what is now popularly seen as Peppi's restau- rant and the Sager building. But West Vancouver residents may be surprised when these buildings do not appear ranked high on the heritage inventory, as they have all been altered. “What we’re looking at for the inventory are buildings that are more intact,"’ said Luxton, who noted a number of post-war 1950s and 1960s homes and buildings are being looked at for inclusion in the new heritage inventory. Buildings, however, are not the only things that may be deemed to have some special historical significance to the municipality. “ft will also include historical sites, trails and marine sites, that sort of thing,’’ said Beck. Residents can pick up a heritage nomination form from the municipal hall, the West Van- couver library or the seniors’ activ- ity centre. The committee is hoping to have the nominations in by the middle of November, so the detailed work of hunting down the buildings’ history can begin. The heritage consultant's work should be completed about mid- December, and after that, recom- mendations on heritage policy and action should be ready to come be- fore West Vancouver Council early in the new year, estimated Wagner.
