Ballroom, Latin, jive, swing and belly dancing classes are offered for adults. For the sports-minded, there are daily fitness classes and drop-in sport activities in badmin- Robots | visit WV | USING THE computer language LOGO, children, ages four to seven, can learn to program com- mands for the Armatron, a mobile robot equipped with a mechanical arm. This opportunity is available through outreach workshops of- fered ty the Arts, Sciences and Technology Centre’s microcom- puter ai-d robotics lab. Commanding a robot is fun, but participants also acquire knowl- edge of basic robotics principles. Children can learn about sensors and how they supply a robot with information about the environ- ment, mechanical gears, electric motors, and keyboard and disk handling skills. Each participant will have the opportunity to explore various types of robots, experiment with educational computer games created by the microcomputer and robotics lab and enjoy related computer and robotics activities such as building a milk carton computer or a detergent bottle robotic arm. Classes will be held at the West Vancouver Memorial Library (children’s story room), 1950 Marine Dr., from Monday, Sept. . 28 to Thursday, Oct. 1. Class times are either 10 to 11:15 a.m., 11:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m., 1:30 to 2:45 p-m. or 310 4:15 p.m. Enrolment is limited to 10 stu- dents, ages four to seven, in each class. Cost is $18 per workshop. Preregistration is required. A fall fair on Saturday, Sept. 19 from 10 a.m to 2 p.m. features family activities wits pony rides, a magic show, cartoons, a flea mar- ket and a craft sale. There will be a health fair for seniors on Monday, Sept. 2! from If a.m. to 3 p.m., with exhibits by over 30 participants. The annual breakfast with Santa will take place in December.
