B2 - Sunday, June 24, 1984 - North Shore News SS Sport RRR Og Nor’westers stay on track NOR'WESTERS dominated the second annual Coquitlam Cheetah Invitational Track and Field Meet June 9 at Simon Fraser University. President John Cull stated: “‘In spite of the abysmal training facilities on the North Shore, our club did ex- ceptionally well at the Cheetah’s track and field meet. Fifty of our athletes won awards. Five of our relay teams placed within the top three. There really wasn’t another club that came close to the excellence and depth of Nor’Westers. The club fervently hopes a Junior Stadium will be built on the North Shore to capitalize on the talent that is here.’’ Former Nor’Westers have recently joined the coaching staff to give the club the ex- pertise necessary for con- tinued dominance: Mark Osborne, long and _ triple jump; Rick Taylor, sprints and relays; Lesley Bailey, throws and hurdles; Roger Pennington, high jump, javelin.
