I am writing to express my
dissatisfaction with your
-“Education Restraint
Program”. As a taxpayer and
a parent in West Vancouver,
I am appalled, not only by
‘the effect of this policy on
my children’s education, but
also by the _ insensitive
manner in which you have
attempted to enforce your
policy. of restraint. I do not
understand haw a cabinet
minister could set such a
restraint plan into action
without giving some thought
to its ramifications or
providing:some guidance for
the trustees you expected to
implement the plan. Your

District, is in serious trouble:

When it was founded it
was agreed that the
operating costs would be
covered jointly - 35% by the
City and 65% by the District.
Recently the, City of North
Vancouver informed us that
it ‘will not, continue on this
basis, Their Council gave us
what “amounted to an
ultimatum - either it be
financed on a user-pay basis
or the City would pull out.
User-pay in this case meant
that each person. using any
facilities would have’ to
identify himself or herself
and state whether they lived
in the City or District, and
the costs would then be

many; others by a few. How

wise? It just won't work.
