Dropping in at Inglewood

Preschooler Mums and
Dads in West Vancouver, do
you feel about ready to drop
out? . . . then drop in.

Family Services has just
launched a new drop-in pro-
gram Thursdays at the In-
glewood Centre to give both
children and their parents a
break.

The program, which runs
between 9:30-11:30 a.m.,
has a large’ fun-filled
playroom for the tots where
they can dabble in crafts and
take part in various activities
organized by Pat Durant and
her helper Gillian Sillje.

There is a separate out of
hearing distance room for
moms — and dads —- where
they can meet, chat, have

coffee and sometimes hear
speakers from the communi-

ty.

“I know how much parents
need a chance to get away
and be by themselves for
awhile,” says Nelleme Fab-
bro, volunteer co-ordinator
for North Shore Family Ser-
vices Society. “There is a
real need for an informal
unstructured program in
West Vancouver.”

Jane Oglesby, one of three
mothers helping to get the
program started, agrees:
“Young families living in
West Van are scattered and
often don't have a focus,”
she says. “This program will
give them a chance to get
together and help the
