Chisholm loves cats.

It was a natural fit. then
when othe Canadian Craft
Museum) asked the West Van
artist to take part ia ts holiday
exhibition and sale. Urs
Raining Cats and Dons.

Chisholm has been desizn-
ing jewelry ona feline theme
since her earliest forays into
wearable art.

“J adore cats and animals.
Ir's as simple as that,” says the
artist.

In the 1970s she worked as
a fibre artist. BC Tel, the Bank
of. Montreal and Dominion
Construction commissioned
her large-scale works.

She branched into jewelry
making in 1981. Two years
jar she opened her Neat
Things studio shop in’ the
1700-block Marine Drive,
offering jewelry-making work-
shops and selling her designs.

She closed her studio three
years ago and moved produc-
tion into her Ambleside home.

Now, at 63, she’s content to
spend time with her cats —
pins, carrings and necklaces
hand-crafted from sterling silver
— which are sold in galleries
and specialty shops — across
Canada for $58 to $250 apiece.
