Andersen and Cockrill told council they had calculated that their scheme should | reduce the length of meetings by at least half and “greatly increase the Heritage Fund, thus eliminating the need for selling more district land.” They suggested two options for possi- ble implementation at a later stage: @a further 25 cents for any mention of council indemnities, and/or lack of same; and Ba further 25 cents for any delaying, of dif- ficult decisions by requesting a staff report on something that nas already been dis- cussed ad nauseum. Said longtime council- watcher Corne Kost: “If they adopted Eric’s rules they’d all go broke very quickly.” Apparently cognizant of thar possibility, Andersen and Cockrill . handed four quarters io each councillor “bearing in mind ticir respective financial situations” in case they were “unprepared for this proposal with an immediate effect.” . But they warned that members of the public would reserve the right to start waiving their wallets “when it is felt a quarter.is due by any member of council.” Andersen and Cockrill spent much of Monday’s meeting waiving their wallets.
