GROUSE Mountain is offering a range
of summer activities including free
workshops and seminars for hikers and
outdoor enthusiasts.

The seminars take place at the top of the
mountain, which can be accessed by Skyride
or by foot. The Skyride fee is $14.95 for
adults, Anyone who hikes up the mountain
can ride down for $3.

On Thursday, June 20, a Soft Adventure
workshop and consumer show will be held in
the Spirit Gallery. “Soft adventures” ure activ-
ities that don't require “super-jock” abilities,
explains Grouse Mountain promotions man-
ager Nancy Chilton. Examples are canoeing
up Indian Arm, tandem paragliding off

{Hike to workshops

Grouse and indoor climbing at The Edge in
North Vancouver. Information will be avail-
able from outfitters who host afternoon to
weck-long excursions. The workshop is from
7 9 p.m.

On Thursday, July 18, a Fitness Training
and Nutrition workshop takes place in the
Theatre in the Sky. From 7 to 9 p.m., a quali-
fied fitness trainer and nutritionist will be
available to provide hikers and fitness enthu-
siasts with first-hand knowledge and sugges-
tions for getting and keeping fit. This work-
shop is presented by New Balance Athletic
Footwear and The Vitamin Shop.

The sessions take place rain or shine.
