How do Greater Vancouver res- idents fee] about carpools? Would they join one if it was easy and convenient to take part? Would large employers help organize carpools and vanpools if the gov- ernment was to help with training and expertise? These are‘some of the questions the Greater Vancouver Regiona! 93 MAZDA District (GVRD) asked residents at a series of public forums on Saturday, May 15 called Creating Our Future: Critical Choices. The forums provided residents with a chance to talk directly to their municipally elected repre- sentatives about air quality and other issues in the Lower Mainland and how we should work to maintain the liveability of our region. The GVRD is responsible for managing the air quality within the region and one of the biggest causes of air pollution is single- occupant vehicles, or cars and light trucks driven by people alone, especially during rush BASE TRUCK "VAUD WITH ANY OTHER PROMOTION Studies show that the popula- tion of the GVRD will double within the next 30 years, and the number of cars on our roads will increase sharply.
