This year the event will be a celebration of the district’s 75th birthday, and a parade will start the day. Parade Master Emerson Short promises one of the greatest parades ever, in this 75th anniver- sary year of the municipality. “But it won’t be complete,’’ he says, ‘‘without the May Queens who played such an important part in the pomp and pageantry of ‘ West Vancouver celebrations from 1930 to 1973. We really would ap- preciate a call from them or from anyone who knows where they can be reached.”’ The early May Queens came from Hollyburn and Pauline Johnson schools on_ alternate years, and had- flower girls and pages. They arrived in state at Ambieside Park, in a horse-drawn landau, escorted by kilted members of the Seaforth Highlanders’ Cadet Corps.
