16 - Sunday, November 30, 1986 - North Shore News VANCOUVER’S 26TH annual Christmas Carol Ship Parade takes place on the two weekend evenings of Dec. 12, 13, and 14 as well as Dec. 19, 20 and 21. Sailing in different areas each evening, the flotilla leaves from the foot of Denman Street and follows the lead carol ship Resolution with young carolers on board, their singing amplified to thousands of spectators on shore. The carol ship idea, developed by the Greater Vancouver Conven- tion and Visitors Bureau, was pro- posed originally by the sales man- ° ager of the Bayshore Inn, who wanted to provide a unique Christmas event for visitors and residents alike. The parade has now grown from a single ship in 1960 to over 75 vessels last year. Vancouver Parks Board com- missioner George Wainborn, who has chaired the committee since 1960, has never missed a sailing and has yet to see the spectacle from shore. Tickets are now on sale at Har- bour Ferries for the Hollyburn, Constitution and Britannia. Ticket prices are $12 each for the Hollyburn and Constitution. The Britannia Christmas Carol Dinner Cruise tickets are $30 each. For tickets or more information call Harbour Ferries at 687-9558.
