ANIMALS AT the West Vancouver SPCA get some added variety in their diets thanks to local shoppers who donate to the pet food bank. Park Royal Super Valu owner/manager Bob Wyllie says that his store’s pet foad bank gets about half full every week with pet foods donated by generous shop- pers. “It’s quite similar to the food bank for needy familfes,’’ he ex- plains. ‘‘People come in and buy a couple of extra cans of pet food to give (to the bank).”’ The bank is emptied every week with the goods going to help feed animals at the West Vancouver SPCA. ‘*As far as | know this is the on- ly place on the North Shore for this," Wyllie says. “I suppose every bit helps.** The pet food bank has been Operating since 1977, he says. BROTHER, SISTER DUO hepherd dog pair seeks good home THEIR INAMES are Tom and Jerry — but they are not a mischievous c2t and mouse combination that runs amok on Saturday morning cartoons. They are a brother and sister pair of german shepherd/ malamute cross dogs that are look- ing for a home together. West Vancouver SPCA volun- teer Judy Staranchuk, who has been taking the dogs for walks since January, describes the two as having fantastic markings. “They're white,’ she says. ‘*They’re just beautiful."’ The dogs are up for adoption, but the SPCA wants the two to be adopted together. ‘‘They don’t want to break them up — they're such a support system for each other,’’ says Staranchuk. At 10 months old, the dogs ‘‘re- ally are a conversation piece,’’ she says. For more information on adop- ting the pair, contact the West Vancouver SPCA at 922-4622.
